Director, Active Community Enterprise CIC

August 2018 - Present

ACE is a social enterprise with a turnover of c£650,000 providing support, life skills and work experience for adults with additional needs across the Liverpool City Region. I arrived at ACE in 2018 in the role of Chief Operating Officer before being appointed to the company’s board of Directors in 2021.

As part of my role I have overseen a successful rebrand, a complete overhaul of company policies & procedures, reviewed and implemented new HR and employment systems and transitioned the organisation from paper based to fully digital record keeping including development of an in house app for staff.

I have also been responsible for ACE becoming a Real Living Wage accredited employer, the introduction of a comprehensive wellbeing scheme for staff including mental health first aid training, yoga & mindfulness sessions for staff, an employee assistance programme and developing a culture in which staff feel supported by, and able to confide in, management.

At HELM I was owner, graphic designer, web designer, marketer & more for clients across Merseyside. Helm was a start up design company run alongside my wife, Heather.

Founder member and trustee  of a charity helping men to look after their physical & mental health. Strategic oversight, fundraising, oversight of operations, lead on digital media, comms etc. Development of internal digital systems for members, CRM etc.

Strategic oversight of a charitable company providing workplace wellbeing resources to organisations (including Golden Square, St Helens Council, Liverpool John Lennon Airport) across the NW. Leading staff, volunteers and contractors & managing stakeholder relationships at Executive level.     

Liverpool Cathedral - Community Leader/Resource & Training Development 

April 2012 - August 2016

Community based project at Liverpool Cathedral. Development of resources, including an online database of resources, training and mentoring for projects in deprived areas.
